On-Line Education and Globalization

International Professors Dr. Clyde Rivers and Dr. Michal Pitzl

The effects of Information Technology (IT) are all around us and the possibilities created by advances in technology are expanding every day, even for developing nations. If protesters in Cairo, Egypt can organize riots using social networking, colleges should be able to bring their education information through on-line capabilities. United Graduate College and Seminary is organization that is pioneering the concept of on-line education in the continent of Africa. Internationally accredited by Worldwide Accreditation Commission of Christian Education Institutions (WWAC), a multi-national association dedicated to promoting Christian education, United Graduate College and Seminary aims to bring positive influence through knowledge to every learner in the world.

Prof. Michal P. Pitzl has been teaching on-line distance learning seminars for United Graduate College and Seminary on the continent of Africa for several years. “I never really understood the power of on-line education until I came to Africa. In America receiving an on-line education has become as common as checking your email, but globally, education is a luxury for 80% of the population. On-line education is the key to globalization,” states Prof. Pitzl.

With any new concept comes change. “Being one who has experienced the traditional education system as a student and an education, nationally and internationally, I understand the power of systems and the nearly unfathomable possibility to change systems. But, the days of expensive tuition are leaving, and overhead costs of going to a traditional campus to receive an education are no longer necessary,” Says Prof. Pitzl. “Making education more accessible to the world should be viewed as a positive change, if we are looking out for the best interests of humanity.”
