Mayor Patrick Cannon of the City of Charlotte and Dr. Rivers,
Ambassador at Large for the Republic of Burundi Africa
As the speaker
at the Samaritans Feet Barefoot Gala in North Carolina, Mayor Patrick Cannon of
the City of Charlotte presented Dr. Rivers, Ambassador at Large for the
Republic of Burundi Africa, with a historic coin from the City of Charlotte.
Ambassador Rivers was humbled by the wonderful introduction by Mayor Cannon and
he said, “Charlotte is a beautiful place and the people so very kind, what a
city!” He offered high praises of this great city in North Carolina.
The Barefoot
Gala was a one-of-a-kind event. Everyone at the event wore formal attire and no
shoes to represent the over 3 billion people around the world with no shoes. In
addition, the event was a great success as it looks to help build a school in
Burundi Africa.
