BURUNDI COMMUNITY DAY – A NEW MODEL OF AFRICAN LEADERSHIP

H.E. Pierre Nkurunziza, President of Republic of Burundi at a Burundi Community Day

The President of the Republic of Burundi has created a concept for the nation of Burundi that is becoming a model of new African leadership. This new model is reflected in a program created that consists of, two hours of work every Saturday for the entire nation in order to build and develop their communities. This means that each Saturday you will find seven million Burundians working together to build their own nation.

The success of this program has resulted in the building of 2,025 schools and 500 medical centers. The hands of the Burundians built these projects. With this new model, President Nkurunziza is teaching his people how to work together gaining skills so they can build communities for themselves. This hands-on model is creating unity in the communities as well as development in the country as a whole.

“You can’t have peace without development,” says Clyde Rivers, PhD - Honorary Ambassador at large for Republic of Burundi.
