On Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 19, 2015, thousands of people from different ethnic groups and cultures assembled in San Francisco, CA. to keep the dream alive.

Ambassador Rivers was at this event and was quoted saying, “Watching the young, old, and every nationality and race all marching together for peace and civil rights was a great day in the United States. We have more things that unite us than divide us. This march exemplifies this point. To see the kindness and generosity of all the different people marching showed me that the Golden Rule, ‘Treat other the way you want to be treated,’ is alive and well in the United States. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., we will keep your dream alive.”

The Freedom Train was setup over 30 years ago by Coretta Scott King, Martin Luther King’s wife.

Dr. Rivers said, “I was humbled to be asked by this prestigious association to be the speaker and to ride on the final Freedom Train excursion. What Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. did for this country and the nations of the world created an impact we may never completely understand, but we know the world is a much better place because of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his belief in civil rights for all. The cultural and ethnic diversity on the Freedom Train really showed me that we can all get along if we live the Golden Rule, ‘Treat others the way you want to be treated.’”
